I spent the day on the UP double track around Marshalltown and watched these storms blow up to the north and west. Finally at 8ish the sun dissapeared behind some large thunderheads and I headed north for home... into some intense lightning. Craig called on the way up and wanted to go do some night storm pics, so we went out to Fairbank and shot the Oelwein Job before most of the storms all died off. We headed back south the CN main at Jesup where a BNSF empty coal train was pulling out of the siding. We ended the night at 3 am watching the coalie do 50mph through Raymond in the lightning and driving rain.
This was taken around 1am on 6/18/09.
